Month-end Close Checklist

Close the books on time every month, with nothing missed.

Month-end Close Checklist keeps a record per close period, the checklist of close tasks and the account reconciliations behind it. A new period adds bank reconciliation, accruals and reporting tasks, unfinished tasks are marked late the morning after their due date, and a reconciliation with a difference asks the controller to investigate.

What it does not do

The package does not post journals or pull balances from accounting software; it is an independent package. Task due dates are entered by people. The assistant reads records and cannot change them.

Getting started

After installing, these steps take you from example data to your own.

After installation, replace the example period and set the team timezone used by the late flag.
Create a close period each month. The standard tasks are added for you; add any others with owners and due dates.
Record each reconciliation and its difference. Differences ask the controller to investigate.
Start the review workflow to ask the read-only assistant whether the target close date is at risk.

Common questions

Can I change the standard tasks?

Yes. Edit the Open standard close tasks automation in TulipFarm before you enable it.

Does the assistant sign off the close?

No. It reads the package tables, cites the rows behind each finding and marks unknowns. The controller decides sign-off and makes any record changes.
