On-call Handoffs
Hand over every on-call shift with nothing left unsaid.
On-call Handoffs keeps rotations, shifts, a handoff note per shift and the alerts still open. New shifts get a handoff note to write, notes not acknowledged the morning after their due date are marked Unacknowledged, and alerts raised to critical ask the secondary on call to join.

Who it is for
For SRE, platform and support engineering teams that rotate on call and lose context between shifts.

What it does not do
The package does not page anyone, import alerts or manage schedules; it is an independent package, not a PagerDuty or Opsgenie integration. The assistant reads records and cannot change them.
Getting started
After installing, these steps take you from example data to your own.
- After installation, replace the example rotation and set the team timezone used by the handoff automation.
- Create each shift. A handoff note is added for you; set its due date to the end of the shift.
- Log open alerts against the shift and write the summary and risks before handing over.
- Start the review workflow to ask the read-only assistant what the next engineer needs to know.
Common questions
Does it pull alerts from our monitoring?
No. Record open alerts by hand at handoff. The package has no integrations.
Can the assistant acknowledge a handoff?
No. It reads the package tables, cites the rows behind each finding and marks unknowns. The incoming engineer decides when to acknowledge and makes any record changes.
